Coach Plowden is in his 17th year of teaching and is a third year boys' basketball coach at Atlantic High School. He has dual B.S. degrees in Sociology and Public Administration from Edward Waters College with a M.S. degree in Emotionally Handicapped Education from Nova South-Eastern University. He is currently working to complete an Ed. S degree in Leadership at Nova South-Eastern University as well.
He has worked collaboratively as an Assistant Coach and/or Trainer for various teams including Florida A&M University Women's Basketball, Edward Waters Men's Basketball and also has the distinction of serving as the AAU Basketball Trainer during the summer games in Jacksonville 1979-1981. Coach Plowden believes that students athletes can achieve anything they put their minds to, if they learn how to prioritize the important things in life.
This will be Coach Greg Ruffin’s first year coaching at Atlantic High School. Greg Ruffin is from California and he played one year of Division 1 basketball at the University of California Santa Barbara. He has also always had a love for the game and getting into coaching has always been his dream. He currently manages and operates two K thru 8th grade charter schools located in Volusia county that have been recognized by the state DOE as “High Performing.” He also owns and operates two full services preschools know throughout the county for the special attention to the Arts.
While he oversees over 1500 student on their journey to becoming leaders right here in Volusia county, he also manages and performs with a nationwide tour that has reached over 150,000 students and gives tools for character building, while motivating students to become leaders and become self-directed learners that are ready and willing to make a positive difference in this world. He currently lives in Port Orange and has enjoys spending time at the beach, playing basketball, and traveling.
This will be Coach Steven Geiger's first year coaching at Atlantic High School. Coach Geiger is a local Seabreeze graduate, that holds a B.S. Degree from Southeastern University in Middle Grades Mathematics Education. Coach Geiger currently teaches Middle School Math for Florida Virtual School, but has taught in both Volusia and Polk Counties as well as at a private christian school in the Daytona Beach area. While at Southeastern, Coach Geiger was a part of the Coaching Staff of the NAIA Regional Championship Girls Volleyball Team in 2010. He has also coached Girls Volleyball at the high school level, as well as girls flag football, and boys basketball at Warner Christian Academy with Coach Norfolk.
He has been married for 5 years to his wife Danielle, whom he met in college. Coach Geiger is excited to be a part of the Atlantic High School Basketball program and is excited to see how he can be a part of making these boys great not only on the court, but off the court as well.
