(Port Orange, FL) On Friday night the University Titans continued their undefeated season by winning 2-0 over the Spruce Creek Hawks in the 7A District 2 Championship game. The Titans’ ace pitcher, junior Grace Taylor, limited the Hawks to two hits, allowed no walks, and chalked up 11 strikeouts in the match. Those two hits for Spruce Creek came from Alyssa Hanflink and Kadri Grinstead in the first inning, but a groundout to Titans shortstop Aminah Vega cut their scoring hopes short.

Only a junior, Aminah Vega is already a UCF commit thanks to an impressive stat sheet with a .582 batting average and 43 runs. She has been the catalyst for University's undefeated season. Vega lived up to her reputation, and rocketed a two-run, game-deciding homer in the top of the fifth. In just three seasons at University, she’s recorded 86 runs in her varsity career.

After this win, University (22-0) went from being ranked 13th to being ranked 11th nationally. Both teams will continue to state playoffs, with University facing Bartram Trail on May 6th, and Spruce Creek (facing Oakleaf on May 6th.
