The Hawks kept the Bulldogs in the doghouse in a narrow 3-2 home field victory for Spruce Creek in the bottom of the seventh on April Fool’s Day. Right off the bat, Flagler Palm Coast got the first score on the board with Hannah Kurek advancing home with Kylee Burns at bat in the top of the first.
Spruce Creek tied it up 1-1 in the bottom of the third with right fielder Haley Yeary sprinting home off an error at first base. Seemingly sealed in the seventh by Madison Cercy’s run giving the Bulldogs a slim lead, Spruce Creek’s Neena Hernandez made a risky run to tie the score 2-2. With two outs in the bottom of the seventh and the winning run on third, the Hawks’s own Haley Yeary singled to bring Marlee Jamieson home and give Spruce Creek a 3-2 victory and their eighth win of the season.
